Bournemouth

It’s been a busy week for Bournemouth, who will be playing their third game in the space of 7 days. Last weekend Eddie Howe’s side lost 4-0 to Manchester City in the Premier League and mid-week they also suffered a shock 3-2 defeat inside extra-time to Preston in the EFL Cup.

Bournemouth were one of the surprise packages in the Premier League last campaign and did well to finish in 16th place, 5 points clear of relegation.

This season however hasn’t started off as they would have hoped! The Cherries only have a single win under their belt and that was against West Brom (1-0), courtesy of Callum Wilson who scored a late winner.

However, with just 4 points from their opening 5 games, Bournemouth are currently 17th in the Premier League table and will be looking to avoid a case of second-year syndrome! A win against an in form Everton side is going to be a tough ask however, but I should think Eddie Howe would be happy taking a point away from the game.

Bournemouth will be hoping that striker Callum Wilson can replicate his pre-injury strike rate from last season, as there is no doubt that his contribution will be crucial in regards to the way Bournemouth’s season is going to pan out.

Everton

Everton under new manager Ronald Koeman have had a flying start to the season!

Since their 1-1 draw on the opening day of the new campaign against Spurs, Everton have won their following 4 matches and have looked impressive in the process.

Although it seemed as if Romelu Lukaku was going to leave the club in the summer, he remains at Everton and will no doubt be vital to The Toffees success this season. The Belgium international has already got 4 goals to his name, which includes a hat-trick that he scored against Sunderland a couple of weeks ago.

Their last game was a 3-1 victory at home to Middlesbrough, thanks to goals from Gareth Barry, Seamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku.

Everton have scored 10 goals in their opening 5 Premier League games, whilst only conceding 3 and so I can’t help but feel Bournemouth are going to be up against it on Saturday.

One surprise however is that Everton were knocked out of the EFL Cup this week after losing 2-0 at home to Norwich, with ex-Everton striker Steven Naismith opening the scoring for the Championship side.

Exiting the League Cup at this early stage could benefit Everton in the long run, as continued participation may well have proved an unwelcome distraction to Koeman’s side, who have had their best start to the season since 1978.

Conclusion

If Everton continue to play the way we have seen in recent weeks they should win this match, although Bournemouth always give teams a good game, especially on home turf. I think that Everton will nick this game 2-1, but Bournemouth will certainly make it difficult for The Toffees and as a result, I can see goals in this game from both sides. I recommend backing over 2.5 goals as I am expecting an entertaining clash!
