Brentford

Brentford’s win at Loftus Road was their first in four matches, having drawn two and lost two. Yet, I watched bits of their game against QPR and they looked very dangerous as Romaine Sawyers scored his first goal for the club with a screamer.

You could say the R’s were very poor in their last match, but that won’t affect a Bee’s side who will now find new confidence with that, especially since they sit tenth in the league and three points off the play-offs places.

One concern is that Alan McCormack is suspended for this match, yet the attacking prowess of Josh Clarke, Josh McEachran and Scott Hogan will give them that flair and pressure up the top of the park.
Furthermore, their 4-2-3-1 worked well last week adding plenty of width it would be good to see if Dean Smith sticks with this current set-up.

Another positive for the club is that they have only lost one of their last ten matches at home, winning six. Also, Hogan remains fit considering the striker has netted eight goals in 15 appearances for club.

Fulham

It’s been a strange time at Craven Cottage for Fulham, considering they started the season so well unbeaten in their first five matches. Yet, now the Whites have lost two of their previous five and sit 11th in the Championship.
Slavisa Jokanovic’s last match finishing in a 5-0 win at home to Huddersfield; Sone Aluko assisting two of the five goals.

Since being relegated, I have kept an eye on Fulham because I would class them as my second team. However, things haven’t improved since their drop into the Championship. For the past few seasons they have struggled making the play-off places and with quality in their squad it has made no difference.

About now, you would have thought things would have been difficult without Ross McCormack, Moussa Dembele and Maarten Stekelenburg, how wrong people have been. Tom Cairney, Chris Martin and Lucas Piazon have contributed ten goals between them and there seems to be a new vigour at the club.

Furthermore, away form is nothing to wince about either. The west London club have only lost one game on the road this season, and with a win on Friday they could climb up to sixth in the table.

Conclusion

The last time these two teams met at Griffin Park, Brentford won 3-0 convincingly; Hogan grabbing a brace. In fact, the Bee’s remain unbeaten in their last four meetings against Fulham, winning three and drawing one. A concern for the Whites is that they haven’t beaten Brentford since August 2014.

What to go for? I reckon it will be an exciting match, as Brentford fans love a local derby at their home ground. On the other hand, this is a different Fulham and I would like to see how Jokanovic lines-up his team for this match.
