World Matchplay Darts Day 2 Betting Preview – Sun 19th July

World Matchplay Darts Day 2 – Blackpool Winter Gardens at 19:00 live on Sky Sports 3

Not the best of starts for us last night after both our bets went down on day one. Jelle Klaasen just didn’t turn up and was dispatched by ‘The Wizard’. We were right about one thing, Kim Huybrechts shouldn’t have been odds on favourite to hit the most 180s against Peter Wright but perhaps I got a bit greedy chasing the price on it to be a draw.

One thing that did look good for us was our outside shot on Peter Wright winning the tournament. Snakebite averaged 108 last night and told me afterwards there is a lot more to come from him.

Right on to today, let’s see if we can find ourselves a couple of winners. My first pick comes from the Bunting v White game. Ian has the game to push Bunting here but I’d still expect this years Premier League newbie to get through. The market I’m looking at though is most 180s. Even in a tight match I’d expect Bunting’s scoring power to help him chalk up the most maximums. The even money about him doing just that is too good to miss.

Stephen Bunting

My second selection comes from the evening session. James Wade takes on Kyle Anderson in a game you’d expect ‘The Machine’ to win. If James comes out and is I a good mood and plays his bets darts he’ll win, simple as that. However, sometimes you can catch the Englishman on an off day and Anderson is a classy player who could exploit that. I’m taking the 4/5 on Anderson +3.5 legs because I think he really will make Wade work for this one.

Hopefully we have a more successful day than yesterday and get back to winning ways.

Darts Betting Recommendations: Anderson +3.5 legs against Wade at 4/5 & Bunting to hit the most 180s against White at 1/1 with BET365

World Matchplay Darts Day 1 Betting Preview – Sat 18th July

World Matchplay Darts Day 1 – Blackpool Winter Gardens at 19:00 live on Sky Sports 3

It’s Day 1 of the World Matchplay and the best of the darting world have made it to Blackpool. There’s a couple of tasty bets to keep us occupied on opening night as well.

The first bet comes in the tournament opener, Simon Whitlock v Jelle Klaasen. The bookies make the Dutch player a slight 10/11 favourite and I think that’s a great bet. This is not the Whitlock of old and Klaasen bulldozed ‘The Wizard’ 6-1 at the Players Championship. Jelle has won two out of the last three between the pair and I think he’ll win again tonight.

Jelle Klaasen

The next tip is a tasty 11/2 shot to sink our teeth in to on day one. It comes in the Huybrechts v Wright match. The Belgian Premier League star is favourite to hit the most 180’s in this one because of his style of play but the stats tell us that when these two meet Huybrechts doesn’t hit more maximums. The way I’m playing this market is backing there to be an equal amount of 180s in the match. In three of the last seven meetings you would have been collecting from the bookies on that punt so at 11/2 it would be madness not to have a small play on that one.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the Matchplay and we can make some money along the way!

Darts Betting Recommendations: Jelle Klaasen to beat Simon Whitlock @ 10/11 with BetVictor & Most 180’s Draw (Huybrechts v Wright) @ 11/2 with BET365

World Matchplay Darts Betting Preview – Saturday 18th July

World Matchplay Darts – Blackpool Winter Gardens at 19:00 live on Sky Sports 3

One of the biggest events on the darting calendar will take centre stage on Saturday as the World Matchplay rolls in to Blackpool. The tournament will see 32 of the sport’s best go at it over 8 days in what most consider to be the biggest tournament outside the World Championships.

We’ve got to start with the front two in the betting, Michael Van Gerwen and Phil Talyor. ‘The Power’ comes in as 10/3 second favourite but this is his tournament. Taylor is looking to win his eighth consecutive Matchplay title and has won his last 35 matches at the event.

MVG on the other hand is rightfully the 2/1 favourite based on his consistency over the last year. The Dutchman is the best player in the world and when he gets going nobody can stop him. He, like Taylor will be there or thereabouts come the end but I won’t be backing either of them.

The 2/1 about Van Gerwen is too short considering ‘The Green Machine’ hasn’t been able to find his early year form of late and I just can’t justify backing him at the price.

Despite Taylor’s Blackpool dominance I won’t be lumping it all in on the 16 time Champion of the World either. Taylor could potentially face Raymond Van Barneveld, Dave Chisnall and Gary Anderson to make it to another final in Blackpool and in the summer heat that’s a tough run, even for the greatest of all time!

Gary Anderson

The man I’m hoping will do the business is the current World and Premier League Champion, Gary Anderson. Don’t read anything in to his form, don’t worry about his mood, just know that when the big events come around, so does Gary Anderson. You’ll get 6/1 if you back ‘The Flying Scotsman’ and that is too big a price to ignore as Anderson goes in search of the Triple Crown.

A man I’d like to give an outside mention to is Peter Wright. ‘Snakebite’ really has been excellent recently and despite being sent home from the Premier League early, his performances on the big stage have improved drastically and only MVG has won more money at ranking events this year.

He’s got a tough start against Premier League rival Kim Huybrechts but if Wright can get through that the 33/1 becomes very good value. I think he will get past the Belgian and I’m having a small punt on Wright to win the whole thing.

Outright Betting Recommendations: Gary Anderson @ 7.0 with BetVictor & Peter Wright @ 34.0 with Betfair
