Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Wed 27th Apr by @tashason21

Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich – Vicente Calderón Stadium at 19:45 live on BT Sport Europe

On Wednesday evening, the 1st leg of this Champions League semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich takes place. Atleti have the best defensive record in the competition, whilst the German outfit are the strongest attacking side and therefore it will be interesting to see the outcome of this intriguing tie.

Bayern Munich have scored 28 goals in the competition to date, more than any other semi-finalist, although they face an Atletico side which have kept 13 clean sheets in their last 15 home Champions League games.

Robert Lewandowski has scored 44 goals across all competitions for Bayern this campaign, 8 of which have come in the Champions League, whilst his strike partner Thomas Muller has scored 15 goals in his last 17 Champions League starts! Pep Guardiola’s side have a vast array of talent across all areas of the field, which is why they are one of the most dangerous attacking sides in Eurorpe.

Vidal and Douglas Costa got on the scoresheet last weekend in Bayern’s 2-0 away victory over Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga, yet the German side still need 1 more win to assure their 4th successive domestic title, with Borussia Dortmund sitting 7 points behind in 2nd.

Atletico were also winners on the weekend, beating Malaga 1-0 and are joint on points with Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table and are also in with a great chance of winning the title.

The Spanish side however are expected to be without Diego Godin for this clash, who is suffering from a hamstring injury and his absence could prove costly as he’s been an integral part to Atletico’s impressive defence.

Diego Simeone’s side defeated defending champions Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate to reach the last 4 and they will be boosted by the return of Fernando Torres on Wednesday, who missed the 2nd leg against the Spanish Champions through suspension. Torres has found the net 5 times in his last 6 appearances across all competitions and Bayern’s defence will have to keep close tabs on the Spaniard.

The German side’s back-line has looked a little shaky of late however, as they surrendered a 2-0 lead in their 1st leg tie at Juventus, before needing to recover the same deficit in the return leg of their final group fixture. Moreover, Pep’s team only edged past Benfica 3-2 on aggregate and looked far from their best in the previous round.

Bayern Munich have been struggling on their travels of late, especially in Europe, whilst Atletico have been ruthless at home across all competitions and therefore I recommend backing Atletico -0.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market, which looks a very tasty price.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Atletico Madrid -0.5 @ 3.00 with Unibet

Prices correct at time of writing.
