January 2020 will be a busy month for the Premier League now that it has already confirmed the dates and times for the transfer window.
The clubs eagerly await this time of the year where they can finally re-configure and re-strategize for the matches ahead.
When will the 2020 transfer window happen?
As confirmed, the transfer window will be from January 1 until January 31, 2020, 11 pm. It was finalised and confirmed during the meeting of the twenty teams.
The transfer window officially opens on the same day in France, Germany, and China. In Spain, Italy, and Portugal, it will be open on January 3 while in Russia, on January 22.
This would allow all the clubs to plan ahead of time and improve their teams while participating in the transfer market. Teams in the Premier and Football Leagues get a chance to buy, sell, and loan players.
Changes to the transfers
Clubs can still make changes to their teams throughout the period. Resubmission is only allowed until February 5, 2 pm.
Completing deals for international transfers
Deals can be made even after the deadline, via the Deal Sheet completion. The Deal sheet can be submitted on Deadline Day, between 9 and 11 pm.
FIFA’s Transfer Matching System requires complete information before issuing a clearance for international signings.
Emergency loan windows are no longer implemented. If the club needs a goalkeeper, the club needs to tap the services of the free agents. They can join the club while the goalkeeper is trying to recover from his injuries.
What to expect during the January 2020 transfer window?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that the club would be active in January. He also said that marquee signings are difficult and hefty during mid-season.
The Red Devils are eyeing to expand the team to include a midfielder and striker. The club needs to bolster its rankings with one or two signings including Reading’s Danny Loader.
And without Scott McTominay who skipped matches due to an injury, the club needs to juggle its midfield options.
Paul Pogba is also struggling physically. There were also fears that Pogba would leave the club earlier in the season. He stuck with the Red Devils, though.
Leicester City claimed that the transfer window is an ongoing preparation.
The City needs a winger, especially in the right-wing. The club is eyeing an addition to Ayoze Perez.
However, Brendan Rodgers may have to loan Filip Benkovic for someone more aggressive as a centre-back.
The club also needs a strong striker, someone better than Kelechi Iheanacho.
The club may also lose James Maddison to Manchester United.
Liverpool is currently targeting Ryan Fraser. However, Arsenal and Everton are said to eyeing Fraser as the newest team member of their club as well.
Chelsea has a transfer window ban, wherein its appeal will be heard before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), December 4, 2019.
FIFA sanctioned the Blues due to violations of Articles 18 and 19 of the regulations concerning the third-party influence and the regulations on the status and transfer of players, respectively.
CAS is yet to decide regarding the appeal. Deciding in favour of the club, Chelse would be able to participate in the January 2020 transfer window.
