NBA All-Star Game 2020 is in full swing.
This is one of the most exciting and fun parts of the league. Every fan wants to see their favourite players at the All-Stars. However, not all players would be there.
And even the NBA players themselves, one of their goals is to play at the All-Star games. It means earning the respect of their peers who voted for them to be included in the roster.
Speaking of which, here are the NBA players who have the most All-Star Game appearances.
Players with the most NBA All-Star Game selections
1) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (19)
Abdul-Jabbar was selected for 19 times but only played for 18 games between 1970 and 1989. He had 13 starts in total.
He never won an MVP (Most Valuable Player).
2) Kobe Bryant (18)
Bryant was chosen for a total of 18 times wherein he was only able to play for 15 games. The late NBA legend appeared from 1998 to 2016. He put up 30 plus points in three of the games.
He has four MVPs. Bryant was one in only two players who have four MVP awards.
3) LeBron James (16)
James played on all 16 times he was chosen from 2005 to 2020.
He has three MVPs under his name. James is also the only active player on the list.
4) Tim Duncan (15)
Duncan also played for all 15 All-Star Games where he was selected. He played from 1998 to 2015 and started 12 of these games.
He has one MVP award (1999-00, tied with O’Neal).
5) Kevin Garnett (15)
Garnett was selected for 15 times but only played for 14 games. He played from 1997 to 2013 and has one MVP award (2002-03) where he finished with 37 points.
Garnett started 11 of those games
6) Shaquille O’Neal (15)
O’Neal is a fifteen-time selectee. However, he only played for 12 games from 1993 to 2009. O’Neal started nine of those games.
He has three MVP awards (1999-00, 2003-04, and 2008-09).
7) Dirk Nowitzki (14)
Nowitzki was chosen to play for 14 times from 2002 to 2019.
He announced his retirement in April 2019.
8) Michael Jordan (14)
Jordan is selected for 14 times but only played for 13 games between 1985 and 2003. Jordan started all 13 games. He forwent the 1985-86 game due to an injury.
He was awarded 3 MVPs.
9) Karl Malone (14)
Malone played for 12 games, although he was chosen for 14 times from 1988 to 2002. Oddly enough, he appeared in the starting lineup for only eight times.
Malone has two MVPs (1988-89 and 1992-93).
10) Jerry West (14)
Like Malone, West has 14 selections but played for only 12 of them. He played from 1961 to 1974.
He has one MVP award during the 1971-72 season. West is already a Hall of Famer.
NBA All-Star Game 2020
James and Giannis Antetokounmpo were chosen as the captains of the West and East Conferences, respectively.
James will start the game along Anthony Davis, Luka Doncic, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard.
Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo will play along with Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam, Kemba Walker, and Trae Young.
