NFL Playoffs 2020: San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs

NFL playoffs are over and done. It’s down to two teams for the finals: San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s the Super Bowl LIV matchup that stuns every fan.

San Francisco was the No. 1 seed while the Chiefs in the No. 2. The 49ers played the regular season with 13-3 record. 

It was a surprise for the analysts considering the 49ers’ last season’s performance at 4-12. 

The Chiefs, of course, is a different story. This is the team’s second AFC championship appearance for two consecutive seasons — a franchise history.

Interestingly, the Chiefs appeared in the Super Bowl exactly 50 years ago.

This is the first time the 49ers will face the Chiefs in the finals game.

The last time they met was in Week 3 of 2018.

Who will win Super Bowl 2020?

The two teams are the favourites as conference champions. However, it isn’t very easy to predict who will bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Jimmy Garoppolo is the 49ers formulae for landing at the No. 1 seed postseason. The quarterback threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns.

The 49ers also have Nick Bosa, the defensive end whose record 281.8 yards earned him the Rookie of the Year Award from The Sporting News.

A deep defensive front spearheaded by Bosa could be everything that the 49ers to win the finals game.

To continue, the team is second in the points per game ranking (regular season).

Other than that, the team has already played in six Super Bowls, winning five of the games.

The 49ers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals (1981, 1988), Miami Dolphins (1984), Denver Broncos (1989), and Los Angeles Chargers (1994). 

However, the team lost nine NFC Championship games.

Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl LIV

The Chiefs has Patrick Mahomes, the reigning NFL MVP, at its roster. He had three TDs against Tenessee Titans during the AFC Championship game.

Mahomes was also the first player with 300 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, and five TD passes in one NFL postseason game.

A passer like Mahomes or this passing offence, which something the 49ers lacks, is crucial in winning the Super Bowl.

With him, the team becomes fifth in passing yards per game ranking (regular season).

He is also the favourite to win NFL MVP award this year. 

The Chiefs had one Super Bowl title under its belt when it won against the Vikings in 1969.

The team lost two AFC Championship games. 

Who will win the Super Bowl MVP Award?

The Super Bowl MVP award is different from the regular-season award. 

Although, the majority of previous winners are QBs, defensive backs, defensive ends, and even linebackers can be named the Super Bowl MVP.
