The hosts, however, will want to continue their good form and push on for a spot in the top ten considering they are sitting 15th in the table on ten points.
Kevin Nicholson’s side remain unbeaten in their last two matches with their last fixture ending in a 3-1 victory away to Braintree Town, Luke Young capping off a fantastic win for the Gulls.
At home the team from down south remain unbeaten this season, winning two and drawing one. In fact, Nicholson’s side haven’t lost at home since early April last season.
Torquay’s last home game ended in a 2-1 victory against Dover Athletic, Daniel Sparkes scoring the winner at the Plainmoor Ground.
There was good business on Deadline Day as well for the Conference side, as Giancarlo Gallifuoco signed a new contract until the end of the season, while striker Jamie Reid extended his loan spell until the start of January 2017.
However, there is an injury to left-back Sean McGinty who is nursing a knock to his shoulder and has no return date yet.
Overall, Torquay will want to improve from their last season considering they finished 18th in the table, only winning 13 of their 46 matches and seven of their 23 games at home.
Lincoln City, on the other hand, are flying in the league sitting third in the table, four points off top spot. They have won three games on the bounce scoring nine and conceding one.
Danny Cowley won his last game on Monday night 3-0 against Gateshead at home, Adam Marriott scoring the third to round off a great display.
The Imps bulked up their squad in the window bringing in eight players including Harry Andersen on loan from Peterborough United, while Jonny Margetts has left the club to join Scunthorpe United.
A positive note though for Cowley is that he has a fully fit squad heading into this away tie.
Away from home, City have only lost one their three matches this season. However, their away victory against Woking in early August was the first time they won away from home since November 2015 in the National Conference.
Last season Lincoln City finished 13th in the Conference on 61 points, and away from home only won six of their 23 game. Yet this season Cowley seems to has got the team playing better football shown through the start they have had.
The last time these two sides met at Plainmoor Ground the Imps won 3-1, Luke Waterfall grabbing a brace. But considering Lincoln have won their last two meetings against the Gulls, Torquay went four games unbeaten between 2010 and 2015.
Difficult one here, I would have to back Lincoln City to grab a win considering they hold a good record at the moment and beat Torquay at their home last season. On the other hand, it will be tough considering the departure of Margetts in the window.
