Super Bowl 2020 is over and done, and Patrick Mahomes won as the MVP (Most Valuable Player).

Who is Patrick Mahomes?

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II was born on September 17, 1995, in Tyler, Texas, US. His parents are Pat Mahomes, an MLB pitcher, and Randi Mahomes. His father gave him the nickname “Showtime.”

He went to Whitehouse High School where he met his would-be long-time partner Brittany Matthews. They now live in a $1.92 million-home located in Kansas City, Missouri. They bought it in 2018.

Mahomes played baseball and football in his first year at Texas Tech University. He later dropped baseball to focus on football. A few years down the road, he became the first alumni to start the Super Bowl.

He founded 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the lives of children. The Foundation supports various charitable initiatives through giving $15,000 grants to 15 charities in Kansas.

Mahomes as a QB to Kansas City Chiefs

Mahomes is a right-handed quarterback to Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs drafted him in the first round, making him the tenth overall pick.

On his rookie year, he was a backup QB to Alex Smith. After Smith was traded to the Washington Redskins, Mahomes became the starter. He wears jersey number 15.

He has a stellar season as a starter after he threw for 5,097 yards with 50 touchdowns. Mahomes was the only QB to ever did that—throwing for more than 5,000 yards as a college and NFL player.

Also, he was the only one in two NFL players who threw for over 5,000 yards in one season. The other being Peyton Manning.

The epic Super Bowl LIV win

He currently earns $645,000, although it is expected to go up after this historic Super Bowl 2020 win for the Chiefs. The Chiefs waited for 50 years to bring home their first Super Bowl.

The Chiefs were down 10-20 against San Francisco 49ers in the last quarter with only 8:53 on the clock. It was actually the third consecutive match where the Chiefs had a 10-point deficit,

Mahomes changed everything when he ran 21-0, throwing 286 yards and two TDs before rushing for another 29 yards and one TD. The epic win was regarded as the second-biggest comeback in the history of Super Bowl.

Mahomes was one in four African-American QB to win the MVP award. And he could also be the first to land a $200 million contract when his five-year deal with the Chiefs expired in 2022.

Also, when he won the NFL MVP award in 2019, he was the first Chiefs ever to take home the trophy. Mahomes was the youngest to receive such a prestigious award.
