The 2020-21 EFL Cup, also known as the Carabao Cup, has been met with a lot of vigour from football fans and punters. Many have been cheering on their favourite football players since the competition began. It is open to all clubs that participate in the Premier League and English Football League, which means that there are several teams to support and matches to see.

It has been a promising competition for football club Chelsea as they won the third round against Barnsley with a score of 6-0. What makes it even more special is that Chelsea football player Kai Havertz scored his first professional hat-trick.

Havertz Grateful for Chelsea Teammate’s Help

Havertz stole the show during the match between Chelsea and Barnsley as he scored three goals. He was delighted to have made the goals and have praised fellow teammate English striker Tammy Abraham. Havertz stated that he was able to score his first goal because of how Abraham smartly dummied the ball during the match.

“I think he’s a very, very good striker and I think our partnership on the pitch was very good. ‘It was our first game together but I like him very much as a striker. For me as a No. 10 it’s very good to play with him,” Havertz stated of Abraham’s role in his performance.

Even Chelsea’s manager, Frank Lampard, was impressed with how the two Chelsea football players teamed up.

“I am delighted with Kai with everything I wanted the night to be with him. I said it in the last two games that Kai has had no pre-season and in signing for the club, I think it took a few days out as well,” Lampard said.

He further continued, “The combinations he had with Tammy, the way he grew into the game and had confidence and the three goals. It was a great night for Kai and the first of many for him.”

No Easy Feat Getting a Hat Trick

If you are a football fan, you’ll understand how much satisfaction and how football players take pride in scoring their hat-tricks. This is because of the relative rarity of the feat. Thus, because of the difficulty for a player to score three goals in a single game, those who score a hat-trick are traditionally given the match ball as a symbolic reward.

Many prominent players have scored their hat-trick. There’s Alan Shearer who was the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker who holds the record for most hat-tricks in the Premier League with 11. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has the record for most hat-tricks in La Liga, with a total of 34. Lionel Messi holds the record in Champions League history with 8 hat-tricks to his name. For the World Cup, you have four players who are tied with hitting two trebles. These are Sandor Kocsis, Gabriel Bautista, Gerd Muller and Just Fontaine.

The EFL Cup is just beginning, so many football fans and punters will still have the opportunity to make the most out of the matches. For instance, if you are an avid football punter, you can look for the best market to bet on football.
